Default 4'x8' Void free 3/4" plywood... which box?

I went into HD to pick up some 3/4" MDF for some newly purchased subwoofers. And I always take a look at the BB ply quality, which ended up being pretty void-free (at least from factory cuts). So I ended up coming out of HD with 2 4'x4' 3/4" Baltic Birch boards.

I was going to use it for a custom Nomex-tc2+ 12" ::Sexy:: 1.8 ft3 enclosure. Which I have already drawn the plans for on 1 4'x4' board.

~~~OR~~~
I'm picking up a Sound splinter RL-p 15" D2 tomorrow and wood love to hear it in a 3.5 ft3 ported enclosure.
I also bought a eD 160v.2 D2, which ended up fitting my TC-2000 enclosure perfectly. I'm going to put this in the back of my wife's ride with 500 Watts @ 1 ohm, in 2.0 ft3. After listening to it for a while.
From the picture it does not appear to be true void free Baltic Birch.
From the outside it doesn't look bad however many manufacturers use putty on the edges to give it a nice appearance on the shelf (you may get a not so nice surprise when you cut into it )
Yeah, I doubt it's totally void free. But it looks better then anything if seen before at HD. And I got it for $34.xx
What you have is typical cabinet grade plywood and that's about the cost of it here. The plywood I posted the picture of is true void free Finnish Birch multi ply and costs about $150.00 for a 4x8 sheet in my area (you won't find it in Home Depot or other home centers). They are easy to confuse since the outer appearance is about the same however the inner construction/material is VERY different.
Wow, the baltic birch ply I use doesn't look like either of those. It's 13ply and doesn't come in 4x8 sheets....and it's white.
Baltic birch ply around here goes for $75 or more and is 13 ply.
Home Depot and Lowe's have crappy ply selection.
It's comes in 1.5m x 1.5m x 19mm. The ply stores I have been to list it as 5' x 5' x 3/4" in the store as it is pretty close, but they order it in metric. It's 13-ply and is about $45 a sheet. I'll try to get a pic tonight.
Thats a really good deal if it is truly void free! Are there any "boat" patches on the outside? I can't get the 19mm in 5'x5' around here and it only comes in an A grade on both sides so you end up paying for that.
Yeah, they do plug the stuff so boat patches can be an issue at times. Luckily the local plywood store has a good amount of stock to nitpick from. With a little extra planning I can usually get my cuts so that the plugs aren't visible on the outside. I'll get a pic of my IDMax box tonight. My full sheets are buried under a lot of junk right now, but I'll be starting another project in a couple weeks and get a pic of one then.
Sorry, had bad lighting when I took the pics.
Top, shows proper color
Shot of the plys, double thick baffle
Shot of the front, slight hint of red is bad lighting.
So I'm almost finished with the Nomex 12" enclosure. I bought a used discontinued Parts Express 250 Watt amp (does ~270 @ 4ohms) and have layed down 3 coats of high Build primer.
I am still deciding on a finish. I don't really want to go black because it would look to drab. I'm thinking about painting it a slate blue, which will give a nice contrast with the black nomex cone. I also didn't want to go with a textured spray paint because I don't think it will mate good with the texture of the nomex cone. It will require tons of sanding to get a smooth finish....
My wife picked up this little guy today. He isn't getting along with my dog too well so we will try hard to find his owner. If not I hope someone wants him.
