I'm tired of the BS at my school. I filled out a room change request sheet in the beginning of the semester and they waited until the last WEEK of school to decide to move me. Not only that they said since I filled out the request I HAD TO MOVE before the semester was out but I couldn't move into my new room until the guy in my new room moved out. So I call him and it turns out he has graduated and is on vacation and doesn't plan to move out until the VERY VERY last day of school which is 2 weeks after school is out. I talk to my R.A. and he says it's ok to leave my stuff as long as I move out the first day of next semester and all is good. Then my current room mate gives me a call saying they are going to throw out all my stuff for not moving out and their going to fine me for not checking out! So I had to make a 3 hour drive back to school move my stupid shit and then drive back home on a thursday when I had to work. To top it all off they gave me a parking ticket for parking in front to my my stuff as well as fined me for being 3 minutes late!
Not only this but my advisor is a RETARD and never gave me a registration time EVER. I had no idea we even had registration until the last day and I found out I had a bar because I hadn't submitted a transcript for 1 class I took over the summer at another school. So I NOW have to sign up for what ever classes are left the next registration time is on Thursday. BTW EVERY SIGNLE CLASS I NEED IS FILLED! If people don't drop/get kicked out I WILL WASTE A WHOLE DAMN SEMESTER!!!!!
Let me be brief about my registration process this last semester.
I'll be graduating in May. I had to get in certain classes before they got filled up... though it probably wouldn't have mattered since I get priority due to me graduating.
Anyway...the process was like this:
1. e-mail adviser a week before registration
2. e-mail adviser, call adviser, go to school on 2 lunch breaks the week before registration since he never answered my first e-mail
3. Finally call the Mech/Aero Eng dept head and tell him what's going on. He has to get my file so he can get my pin # so I can register.
4. He e-mails me the next day asking if I have the file. I say no. He says he'll call back.
5. 2 days later he calls back. My adviser had the file from the Summer!
6. I finally register 3 days into it. I don't get into the Senior Design course I want. I'm pissed.
But, I'm going by the school tomorrow before class to ask one of the professors if I can get into his design course. Should be alright.
I'm taking 2 design courses and one regular course. I just gotta make C's and I graduate. I can't wait until it's over.
School's a joke. I signed the acceptance letter w/one major. Got there, WTF, I have a whole different major. They wouldn't fix it even tho I had the letter.
Graduated and got the f outta there. School is about money first .. education .. 12th or so.
Yeah listening to my advisor cost me nearly 10 years on my education.
And for those who think the professors are the only ones on campus who know anything... I'd say nearly half of those (leastways, the ones I had), are complete fucktards, too. Having a PhD doesn't equate to common sense or being a decent human being.

I have to say my wife's first advisor at UT was a dumb biatch who did kind of screw her/us, but to be fair all of my EE advisors were spot on. Had a total of 4 different ones, never had a problem.
Wow..I thought Mid Ten was sorry...but we are pretty good. Not all students have academic advisors. I don't. They just give you a list of classes you need to graduate and you take them in any order as long as there are no pre-requisites. Our registration time is e-mailed to us, and is based on how many credit hours you have. you type in the call numbers, hit submit, and you are done. You can change it as many times as you would like until the day before classes.
Which brings up a cool way to make money. Say your friend registered before you...have them hold the class, unregister, and then you register 30 seconds later.
My advisor was a professor, almost missed out on an advanced math class because he told me i didn't have to take college algebra. I got to the class and the prof. started by asking who had taken calc, etc. I told him I hadnt taken any college math classes and he kicked me out. I had to go to the head of the business department to get me an exception to the class.
Ended up with 39 hours my senior year, but I got it done...
The worst part about my school is that they regularly change the course catalog, every 2-3 years. That's pretty normal and should be expected when you're in a technical/engineering major because things change and schools have to prepare you for it. But, the bad part is trying to figure out wtf you're supposed to take in place of one class that's been ommitted from from the classes available. That's where the advisors are supposed to help. But, what good is it when the adviser doesn't even remember what major you are?...
9 more credits... 9 more credits... breeeeeaaaaaaaathe
What's an advisor? We just had a schedule online by credits you had showing when you could sign up.
That sounds like a bunch of bs though man - I'd try to take it up with someone about useless fines.

Yea me too, I do all my class selections online and usually never have a problem. However, on the rare occasion where I don't know what classes I need, I'll go speak to them, and you'd think they just fell off the short bus with a Degree from Tard U, and they landed a job just to fuck with your mind.
