Default I phone clone

Anyone have any personal knowledge of them, whether any will support 3g networks, etc, etc. I want one, but don't care to pay the monthly user fees from ATT. I very rarely text, have aircard for laptop to get on internet most of the time, just like all the other features like the apps and such you can put on the iphone.

You can "jail break" the iPhone and use it on other carriers. My brother used an iPhone on T-Mobile for several months without any kind of problems. You won't have the visual voicemail and you won't be able to use the internet features without a data plan (unless using wifi). I hope this helps.

Foos, why not just get an Ipod touch? Apps, no need to jailbreak (voiding warranty) and all features except the phone/3G stuff. And since you have a laptop, you wont be missing the 3g part of it. And unless you want to pay for your service providers 3g stuff... whats the point? And no one else has the apps like the Iphone yet. Maybe the new Verizon "google" phone will, but its a bit unknown as of yet

I was just going to say the same thing about the ipod touch. Sounds like exactly what you're looking for. Ability to download the apps and do the other stuff, but without the phone features.

I just wanted an all in one solution when I didn't feel like dragging the lap top out.Looks like the only way to do it right is get the legit Iphone from att. The apps and stuff wont work on other phones.

it still seems to me like the ipod touch is your best best. If you don't care about using it as a cell phone, but like all the other functions...its all there. It has built-in WiFi, so you can use it to get online quickly the times that you dont want to pull your laptop out. You can download the app store apps and use all those, plus the ipod functionality.

Sure you'll still have to use your own cell phone, but you also won't have to pay $75+/mo for an ATT cell phone bill.

Plus, while iphone clones may look decent, I've read that the actual functionality on them sucks most of the time, since they're just cheap knockoffs trying to imitate the iphone's software (not to mention not being compatible with the app store, etc).

What you guys are talking about is called "unlocking". "Jail breaking" doesn't necessarily void warranty because you can always go back to itunes and restore the phone back to it's original state whenever you are going to take it in for service or whatever.
