If you took the time to read the post! You would know that you do not have to pay for the fix anymore. You can call Samsung and they will fix it for free! Besides, the known card fix is not that cheap of a fix.
AGAIN THE POINT OF THE THREAD WAS TO LET PEOPLE KNOW SAMSUNG FINALY HAS A RECALL ON THE PROBLEM!

I for one was very happy to come across this post and thankful it was posted. We've been searching everywhere to figure out what's been going on with our t.v. and found various sites with angry customers experiencing the starry night phenomenon with their Samsung televisions. Everyone else posted that when they contacted Samsung, they refused to acknowledge a default and would not help them. So it was great to discover that there has in fact been a recall now. THANK YOU. Ignore those who feel the urge to comment rudely and without reason. It's petty.
My HLT6176S developed about 4 dots a little over a month ago...now can't even watch it, must be thousands at this point. I was SO happy to see your post as I really can't afford to replace it! I'm going to call Samsung tomorrow, I hope they will do something about this.
Samsung will not fix all models I have a 62" DLP and they will not fix the dots my TV apparantly isn't on the list and doesn't qualify white dots are exactly the same as everyone else with qualifying tv's but I have to pay for my Samsung defect. I won't buy another Samsung anything after this. I've found online others with my model and other models as well complaining of this same issue with Samsung.
