Of course, buddy.
Pete's blueprints are pretty detailed.
It should be a breeze to build.
I'll let you know when it's done to meet up.

I hope you give some details on it. I'm waiting for plans for the i6sw. I actually told him to pick 1, 2 or 4 i6sw or the 8 for my truck and he said the single 6 would do just what I wanted.

I also told him to choose any HAT sub and what I wanted as far as frequency response in the Toy Car.
This is what he wants me to build.

The idea is to have it totally hidden from view in the hatch. It's 2.1 cubes internal.
I havent started a build thread here because I've just got the car and it's going to be a pretty slow build, but I'll start a new thread once I have something to show.

Pete gave the same design for a couple of 6.5's. Funny, when thinking about doing a single or twin 6.5/8 in a quarter wave design, I was basically thinking about doing a rudimentary quarter wave design with a taper to lower the frequency a little bit (according to the papers I've read) ... which is what Pete looks to have done.

PWK the end-all be-all of box designs?

Quote:
And on the face of it, it looks like the guys at bassaudio.com.br did the same with the i6sw on the Renault Twingo build, probably with a double fold, or it could be a simple ported box.

How much clearance do you have between the back of the enclosure (subwoofers/vent) and the body of your car? What about clearance to the hatch? Are those cut outs for the drivers all the way into the into top and bottom of the enclosure, or is that an optical illusion?

Your installation location is very similar to mine, and I didn’t think it would work to vent to the rear that way, being so close to the car body. (My I10SW would be firing up and the enclosure would only be vented rather than TL.)

Theres around 5" of clearance.
Pete said that 2" minimun.
Yes, the cut out for the drivers cut into the top and bottom of the enclosure.
The total height of the enclosure is 8". Same as the diameter of the subs.

Installing car audio gear is a pretty hard job.
I'll keep my day job as a doctor and just play on the weekends.
By the way, I'll cross the border tomorrow.
Want to grab a bite?
I'll text you,

Yes sir, just let me know what time. Sorry for the delayed response, I didn't have my phone with me so I didn't get any email notification for the thread.

Sorry to ask but what's the purpose of seeing a subwoofer move? A vid tells you nothing about performance, especially SQ.
Vid would be ok if you're looking for an air pressure pump that makes everything in the car vibrate...

I guess you're right, especially if people use inferior recording products, however there are some good videos out there.

geewiz factor more than anything. Not much different than say watching a video of an engine on the dyno, or the sound of mufflers or a myriad of other things. It never really tells you how it performs in the real world, but it is still cool to see.

Granted it doesn't excite me to see a bunch of 15's or 18's moving, you expect that, but seeing something like my little I6SW is kind of cool. You don't expect such output even though logic says it doesn't matter if it is a 6 or 18, the 6 will just have to move more than 18. So what, it is still neat to see it

Nice! What's the width of the enclosure. My boot is tiny. I've been crunching some numbers, but it's always a problem. For a quarter wave design in my boot, a 10" would be hard, 12" near impossible.

Thanks for that. Well, my boot is only 31" wide ... 32 at a push (minus carpet). It might fit on my back seat, other than that, for me it's a new car!
