Default Box Help

Within the next few days I plan on purchasing a new setup. I am new to the whole sound system thing. I have done a lot of research and have finally decided on 1- 12" RE Audio SEX and a Hifonics Brutus BRZ 1200 amp because I know the sub can take more power than it is rated. The only problem I am having is finding a good ported enclosure that meets the specs RE recommends. I have only found 3 ported enclosures that meet the specs. Two are Sound Ordnance Bass Bunkers and one is specifically made for the sub by zenclosures but is more than twice the price of either Sound Ordnance ones. One of the Sound Ordnance boxes has a volume of 1.6ft3 and the other has 1.83ft3. Both fall within the 1.5-2 ft3 recommendation by RE. If anybody has ideas or thoughts I would greatly appreciate it, thanks

Not to bust your chops, but how do you "know" how much power the sub can take it you don't even have an enclosure for it yet?

I work for an RE dealer, and I owned an SEx series sub for a while earlier this year. Believe me, there is nothing special about them, and their specs are just about as generic as you can get.

Do yourself a favor and download WinISD from linearteam.dk - read the instructions that come with the file, load the specs of the sub you are considering, and have a look at the cone excursion graph. That will give you a better idea of how much power the sub can take in a given enclosure.

Sorry I guess I do not technically "know", but I have read that on multiple reviews and forums about the product. I have decided to go with 2 12" re sex's and a hifonics brutuz 1200. Do you have a specific ported enclosure you would recommend since you know about the product well? Wiring Kits? thanks

There probably is no specific pre-fab' box that would be the perfect fit. Just use winisd with the driver specs and enclosure specs to see how it adds up.
