I found BOTH the PDX amps I'm using off craigslist BNIB for only $500. They were used in a custom built show Car and never actually hooked up. Just for looks. If you get lucky or can find a custom show Car builder you too can get a deal like this. I've bought several more amps and HU from this guy now. Good luck

now I love alpine, but somebody's gotta explain to me the application of class d to front end. I've never actually listened to one. how do they get the efficiency, but somehow make it sound good?

Thanks man! How much deadener do you have throughout your explorer? I went a little overkill but I want to get some nice tight snappy midbass!

Damn! I doubt Ill use that much! That's awesome! Are your doors sealed up? What did you use to fill that huge hole in the front doors? It sucks our door panels have the hang style way of attaching that has those 1'' x 1'' holes.

After some research I've put together a list as it stands for now.
Equipment: Im thinking Ill use one 12 in my Build crossed at 63hz 24db slope. I've always used smaller subs. I like 8s because of the WOW factor I used to get from some of the ported boxes I built for them. One good 12'' sub, a good 6.5'' comp set (sold on Hertz HSK165 right now or used MILLE's) and a 500w sub amp, 300w amp mids, and 200w tweeter amp. I haven't made up my mind which brands yet for amps and subs.

Placement: Tweeters in the pillars, mids sealed up in the factory location, sub in the drivers side rear corner, amps hidden in storage compartments. Im hoping I have a really nice crisp sounding system that makes it sound like DMB is giving me a personal concert on my hood!!

Thoughts?

do a couple of searches on here for deadener and pdx amps.
Sounds like a lot of money has been spent on deadener when you could use less and get the same results. Also (I have not owned pdx amps but have put them in friends cars) pdx amps tend to be a bit noisy. again, search for pdx amps. there are a lot of threads regarding this. Just trying to save you some money

It is very easy to conflate cause and effect that are unrelated in audio design. In fact, the entire audiophile industry is based upon this ease of fallacy.
