Default Good Component set?

Hello, I've been out of the "game" for a while. I started working on a set up about 2 years ago and stopped due to lack of funding. My very first upgrade as far as car audio goes was a Kenwood headunit. The factory unit quit, so that thing was bought on a price point (cheap!), and it actually hasn't been that bad. Next I bought a JL Audio 13w3v3 and powered it with a JL Audio 500/1v2. I picked out a nice set of tweeters . I remember doing more research than I have ever done and still couldn't decide which mids to get. I was going to run them on a JL Audio 450/4v2, which I would purchase as soon as I could figure out the mids. The tweeters went away with the old car, but I liked them. I see their price has gone up some. So what I need now is a good set of mids and tweets for about $200. I'll buy that amp too if it's still worthy. I guess I'm just trying to get out of never finishing a setup again because I'm so indecisive.
I see the forum has been heavily revamped so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section. I listen to a lot of alternative rock, electronica, classic rock, and jazz once and a while. I've aquired a brand new 1998 Crown Victoria LX. I would like to keep the woofers in the factory location and I'll figure out where to mount the tweeters.

I have been looking also. The Focal Access series 6.5s sound really nice - around 200 on ebay. I listened to some in a local shop and they say that Focal are the best, but I never really see anyone around here talk about them. The PPI seem like a bargain and I wonder how they compare with Focal.

The access tweeter is crap and the rest of the components in that set are marginal for the price you pay. IMHO focal is way over priced for what you get and probably a good reason why they are not discussed here that much. The other options that have been given by others are much better IMO.

How do the PPI 356cs compare with Rainbow components (SLC 265 Kick)? I'm also trying to figure out what components to go with. Is it better to pay the extra money, almost twice as expensive as the 356cs?

I have the PPI set in my wife's car - deadened and sealed doors, mounted as coaxial with around 150w going to them.

I LOVE these speakers.

the highs are beautiful, not sharp, not harsh, not too laid back... I would call them bright but thats usually a negative term when it comes to tweets. I run them at +3 on the crossover and they sparkle (better word than bright).

I have listened to all of the Focal discs, hip-hop, country, rock, christmas music, kids music (nursery rhymes), etc... pretty much everything. and they sound EXCELLENT!

good midbass, though not as strong as the CDT's in my pickup, which is probably due more to the install rather than the speaker.

I couldnt recommend a passive set higher for the money.

I will be running them active in my next install - though thats because I accidentally ordered one too many sets for my wife's car and now have a set BNIB waiting.

Im looking into getting some Morel Tempo 6's. No one has recommended them but they seem to get nothing but good reviews. They run about 250, I havent bought them yet so I cant make a personal comment. According to the reviews they have excellent mid-bass.
