But 2x8" drivers is less cone area than 1x12" driver. Not by much but still less.

If you re-read my post, I wasn't talking about the Epic 8"

I can understand the confusion but you're right, 2 x 8" only has slightly better cone area than a 10" driver - you can say that 2 x 8" is equal to a 10.67" driver (8 divided by 3 + 8 = 10.67")

Finally found it. Went with the Dynaudios eh. I've never heard them but I read that thread by the guy who replaced his Morel Ultimo with one. Man, if they're a marked improvement on the Ultimo (which I have heard), they must sound bloody good and hit bloody deep. Hope you're enjoying them.

What are you running now? It's hard to believe there's something out there better than the Dyn or Ultimo. Must have cost a fortune

If their subs (AT's)are anything like their 9" midbass, they get better and better with time.

Yeah Buzzman, it was your thread. That new sub looks like something you ripped out of the Enterprise.

If I had a ton of disposable income I would by a little hatchback and put as many of those xl's in it with as much Power as I could fit just to see what would rip apart on the car.. Those things have some unreal low end!

Would like to fit the illusion XL's but I'm limited on height hence selecting the slims. I'll look at the XL's mounting depth however.

^Not bad for a 12" sub at 6.5" mounting depth.

I'll stick with my Dynaudio Esotar2 1200's. I haven't heard a more musical sub that can blend so well with the front stage. And when I get on them, they can flex some body panels while taking up VERY little trunk space !
