Default New DEH-80prs faceplate gets really warm. Normal?

New unit, bought and installed today.
Back side of face gets almost too warm, almost hot to the touch after it's been on awhile. The part of the main unit below the CD slot seems ok.
Is this normal? Something I should be concerned with?

Never noticed this issue with other head units before.

I thought I'd ask here since a few other members have this HU, and to see if this issue is common.

i noticed the entire headunit actually gets really warm when it's sitting on the bench running for a while (I bench everything before it goes in the car just to make sure I like it enough/it isn't faulty). I understand the concern but I wouldn't really worry about it unless you're noticing problems.

Nothing wrong on the faceplate getting warm, just that lifespan of it are shorter...

I guess I had never noticed it getting warm. But I dont actually touch the faceplate very often. Also have the internal amp turned off, so perhaps thats part of the reason I have never noticed it?? Not sure.

Thanks for the replies. I take it then that all should be ok.

I used an IR thermometer to measure the temps. Varied from 120-132 degrees farenheit on the face backside and 85-91 around the dashboard.

I bought the 80prs after reading the 53 page thread and other reviews and comments on here. Amazing sound quality and tune-ability for $350.

Thanks again
