Default Do I need to upgrade my alternator?

I drive an 2003 dodge neon and I just bought a SSA Icon 15" and a sundown SAE 1000 watt amp I also at some point in the near future plan to add an additional amp to Power a set of components at about 100 watts. If I do a big three in 0 gauge Wire and then get a good 2 farad cap will I be ok? or do I need a HO alternator? I hope I will be ok as I don't have the money for an alternator at this time.

85 amp ,in a Neon. Yea thats kinda small. But why put the cart before the horse. If you are moderate with the volume most of the time. You likely wont need a bigger alt. But still do the B3 and a cap.

General guild lines:

Do the big 3 (Alternator to bat+ cable not that important)

Get a good low internal resistance battery (Essential!)

Make sure all connections are sound (A fundamental that is most important, research this area till you know you know enough to accomplish this goal)

That should give you all you need with nothing worse then a drained battery if you are extremely careless.

Please help a rookie out - I know just enough to be dangerous. What exactly is the "Big 3"?

I'm assuming that it is probably something to do with increasing current capacity, along the lines of a better battery, bigger alternator and heavier guage main cable. Am I anywhere close?

Thx
