Default 2007 Nissan Frontier SQ/stealth install

After being spoiled with the Audiotek Fischer DSP in my BMW M2 audio install, I decided to update the audio in my daily ride; a 2007 Nissan Frontier.

When I got the truck in 2015 all it had was the stock single disc headunit and four POS paper speakers. I swapped the headunit out for a OEM Nissan 6 disc/MP3 player and replaced all the speakers and added 2 amps, tweeters, and a sub.

First install parts:
Alphasonik Q2150 amp
Rockford Fosgate amp (not sure the model)
Boston Acoustics Pro60SE front speakers
Boston Acoustics S65 rear speakers
Pioneer TS-SW2002D2 8 sub + UD-SW200D enclosure

All those improvements sounded good; until I did the M2 install

So I gathered up all the stuff I wanted this time around.

AudioEngine B1 bluetooth receiver
Helix P Six DSP Mk2 amp + Director
CDT ES-02 tweeters
Audiofrog GS690 mids
Earthquake Audio SWS-8Xi subs

Since this is my daily ride, I use bluetooth from my iPhone as my audio source. I kept the OEM headunit in just for FM radio and for a stock look. The Audioengine B1 uses AAC bluetooth audio codec for the best possible sound from the iPhones bluetooth audio. The Director is my volume control.

First up, remove all the old stuff.

and install the new stuff.

Coax rear speakers

Sound treatment and speaker cutout

8 sub mounted and more sound treatment

Fiberglassed hole to accommodate the door panel pocket

On to the front doors

First layer of sound treatment

Second layer

Door holes sealed up

GS690 installed

Ran 14ga wire to all the speakers

Installed the Director in the sunglasses holder.

Next Ill be replacing the tweeters.

Had some time today to install the ES-02's.

Did a quick tune when I was done.

Right side:

Overall impression:

Front soundstage is WAAAAY better than before. The Boston's sounded good, but a bit too bright for my tastes. Truthfully, I'll have to get used to the sound of the ES-02's. They're a big difference from the Morel Hybrid's in my M2. Midbass has improved as well. I'm liking the Audiofrog GS690's.

While I can hear bass all the way down, I don't feel it as much as in my M2 setup. I have the same SWS-8Xi's in both vehicles. The subs in the M2 are getting 160w and the subs in the Frontier are getting 230w. I think has to come down to the enclosures in the M2; I'm sure they are better designed. I tried my best to seal as much of the Frontier's rear door cavity that I could. I estimate each door to be around .55 cuft which is within the range for the SWS-8Xi. Just might think about adding a 10" sub after all.... We'll see....

Yeah I'm still learning all this. The system is tuned pretty close to the Audiotec Fischer house curve. I'm sure I have some cancellations going on in the audio spectrum, but it sounds a whole lot better than the old system.
