Default Subs keep cutting out

So my subs bass cuts in an out . I previously just had one 300 watt 4ohm 10inch kicker hooked up to a 1000 watt dual Electronics amplifier , well I bought another sub . Same one , hooked it up and it’s cuts in and out to the bass when the volum hits 20, but when I just had the one I could turn the volume up to 34 before it started sounding distorted . The bass booster is a little over half and gains a little over half . The single sub hit harder than When I put in the other . But I can’t even turn it up to feel the bass. P.s I know absolutely nothing about car audio .

Are both Kicker subs 4 ohms? How did you wire them, series or parallel? Do you have the documents for the amp, or can you look up it's specs online? You could have it wired to too low of an impedance, and the amp may not be able to handle the load. Is the amp a 2 channel, 2 channel, or mono?

Subs cutting in and out could be several things, but the two that I would look at first are:

A. Can the amp support the impedance load you've got your subs wired to?

B. Verify ALL connections, a loose connection can cause signal to come and go as the cables move around. Make sure all connections are tight at the amp, make sure your ground is snug (you may need to take this one a bit further and verify that it's a good spot to ground to in the first place), make sure the connections are tight behind the head unit, and make sure your power wire has good contact with the battery (don't overlook the fuse holder and it's connections).

Just get a good amp!

Kicker, Kenwood, pioneer, Jbl, alpine, Mosconi, Zapco, Brax.

Chances are the your amp can't even hold a 2 ohm load, subs should be identical, wire for 8 ohm or get a different amp.

Is that a single channel amplifier, or have you bridged a two channel?

Was a single not enough?
If it sounded better, and also good enough... then you could improve it by going back to a single.
