Default Verifying Line Level and speaker level outputs

Dumb question #2 for today

I plan to install everything over the course of a few weeks\months...lots of time for learning. So things will probably be done in stages and probably won't be hooked up for quite awhile.

As I go along, I'd like to check connections, ensure expected DC voltages, and be able to verify the AC outputs as well. I have a multimeter and oscope.

Just so I know what I should be looking for....

My vehicle provides a shielded balanced output. I assume this is "line level" and would be a fairly constant peak voltage with varying frequency elements between 20-20kHz correct? I would assume the AC RMS voltage would be less than the maximum 2.8V that, say a MS-8 would accept?

I guess the speaker level outputs would probably be the same but would vary in amplitude more so.
