Default What 8” mid bass matches JL Zr800 characteristics?

I know there have been a ton of “how does x speaker compare with zr800’s?”, but I’d like to try a different approach to the question.

So I’m wondering what (roughly 8”) mid bass most closely resembles the characteristics of the now hard to find JL ZR800’s?

Background: I’m looking to purchase a pair of 8”s for mid bass in the doors of my Camry sometime in the next 3-6 months. I have 200 watts rms available for each speaker (400w rms for the pair).

Thanks for any input.

Hmm. I didn’t realize it, but the mw182’s are claimed to have the same 9mm one way linear excursion that the zr800’s do.

** edit : I looked up mw182, not mw172..

I'd say very little to none. Spec-wise, it would be hard to find an upper bass oriented driver that matches what Erin measured on the ZR800CW. That said, it's not to say you can't find a suitable 8" for the response you're targeting.

only 2 8's i have used that compare are the Audio Development W800neo (and its shallow), and the big bad brother of it, the SW800. The SW800 is an animal

Where is everything getting their Audio Development stuff from?

I know what MSRP is on the w800neoís, but what do they actually sell for? If itís somewhat reasonable I may try these out soon.

MAP is 800, so they sell for 800 unless your buying used or gray market without any support.

Does your comment defending their $800 price tag mean that you sell them?
