Default Helix DSP Tuning Questions

Got everything going now. Few questions.

1) Why is a DSP remote used so often? What's wrong with controlling volume using the HU? I managed to mess up and solder the wrong side of my connectors so now I have no remote. I pretty much never touched my remote before I installed my DSP, and my HU volume was pretty much the same unless I was talking to someone in the car.

2) Setting crossovers when using a passive crossover in the front. Should I just leave the front signals as full range or should I implement a high pass filter?

3) I had to set my channel gains to -11dB or I would otherwise get hiss from the speakers with the volume at 0. My Pioneer Amp is already set to input voltage of 6.5V so no adjustment here. Should I lower the channel gains even more to give myself a little bit of headroom?

4) What's the difference between Subwoofer 1/2 and Subwoofer L/R? Is 1/2 just mono for multiple subs?

1) the Director isnt just a volume knob. Sometimes it's even needed (like if using hec cards or digital inputs with fixed volume)

2) high pass

3) did you set itput gain on the dsp?

4) it's just a name. You can make the signal for any channel whatever you want

Thanks!

For the remote, I see the merits of the Director. I just saw that Audiotec is releasing a Wifi Connect attachment, but I'm not sure if it's compatible with the DSP Pro. I just don't really ever change the volume which seems like all the URC.3 would offer me, and I pretty much only listen to electronic music so I don't think having a wide variety of tunes is really that appealing.

I didn't change the input gain on the DSP. If I don't see the clipping LED light up, am I going to see any difference in sound by decreasing the input gain and returning the channel gains to like -5dB?
