Default 2008 civic Si DIY A pillar build scanspeak 10f Beryllium tweeter

I saw some interesting A pillar builds with these A pillars. They are deceiving in that one thinks shoving a mid into the little window in between the gap would be easy. These A pillars are a complex shape with weird convex and and concave as well as sloping inward into the interior. I wanted to do something old school with a tear drop kick panel type design but try and make it look as clean as possible. It took an unconventional approach using a combination of epoxy plastic filler for adhesion, duraglas, urethane expanding foam, body filler, foil tape for a shaping, high build primer, texture spray, spray paint ....Enjoy the build pics..

Looks really nice. Will be nice to see the installed pictures. Did you do any testing prior to selecting the aiming?

Thanks for viewing...The aiming is pretty much the standard driver aim towards passenger/ passenger aim towards driver approach. As always there are tradeoffs and compromises. It being a relatively large baffle for given space if I had aimed more on axis then aesthetics as well as view obstruction whilst driving would have been compromised so this alignment in my opinion given a two way separate setup was the best middle ground. System will be 3 way active DexP99RS, revelator W18 in doors, 12 inch Discovery sub, Arc audio xxk4150 (old school) powering mids/tweets, Audio control ACM 4.300 bridged powering doors, and audio control LC-1.800 powering sub....Thanks again for viewing. I make home speakers as well so please check out those posts...Will post full build thread in the next few weeks.

Thank you Greatlabroski...Appreciate the kind words. They are open backed at the moment and will be beefed up internally with a couple of layers of chopped mat and resin for rigidity, then I will line the insides with modeling clay for mass and resonance taming, and last stuff a bit of virgin wool on the inside before loading the drivers for listening. I'm thinking since the back of the pillars meet up with a small window that I might just leave the backs open as the window will close it off. I can just cut a triangular piece of trunk liner to go over the window. I will see how they sound first this way and take some measurements but I can always just seal off the back later by taping it off and pouring slurry or milkshake in. Full build pics should be coming within the next two weeks but my God is it hot here in Alabama and unfortunately I dont have a nice air conditioned install bay to make short work of tearing down the interior and running all necessary cables. The simplest things in this kind of heat that normally would take 15 minutes seems like it takes 45 minutes when every 5 seconds you are wiping sweat from your face because its blinding you...Hate this time of the year...Trully..

Very nice pods. You definitely have some skills. I like the texture paint, it gives them a factory look. Nice speaker choices.

Yep, well done. Looks really good.

I can see the tweeter is a Scan Beryllium. But what is the midrange?

EDIT: Nevermind... your post title says that it's a Scan 10F. Somehow missed that.

The famous ErinH...What's up? I'm in Birmingham (city without a working interstate that will never be completed). I had purchased all of this gear last year and posted somewhere around that time what my plans were for this system. I had been making home speakers and posted those builds here just because I know guys here like that stuff too. Honestly just now have had the time to get around to doing the car ststem. Some of the board members mentioned there are periodic meet and greets for us mobile audio nuts in Alabama. Would love to hang out and meet some nice folks listening to tunes...

You should come out if you can. All of us car audio guys in this area are really good friends and we have a great time. Always looking for another sucker to pull in to our group. lol

Thank you Babs...I think once tuned up with the Dexp99rs and an omni mic setup I have they really should sound nice. Mostly composed of fiberglass reinforced filler they should be plenty rigid and I also am going to line the walls with non drying modeling clay...
