Default Connection help

Just starting out in car Audio with a pretty basic setup consisting of

Pioneer 50w x4 headunit
Dayton audio dsp
pioneer gm d1004 D class amp
A set of cheap Pioneer components

I’m not into loud per say just looking for something with good sound quality for the daily 2hour commute, and want to keep it as stock as possible

I’ve got the front channels of the hu connected to the Dayton then 4 channels ( 2 mid/ 2 tweeters) going to the amp all via RCA

When I first fitted it it was ok but since I eq’d it it’s not as loud as I would wish
I have the gain on the Dayton at -8 so about 3/4 I think and with the hu at about 26-28 I would say is average listening volume, but I’d like to be able to get it a little louder
What are my options? Am I doing something wrong?
Would using the rear channel RCA’s from the hu to feed 2 of the channels into the Dayton help?

As a guide
Before I connected the hu and Dayton with RCA’s I was on speaker level and comfortable volume was 6-8
Once connected via RCA’s but pre eq comfortable volume was about 16-18

That is interesting - I don't think I've ever seen an amp without gain controls before!

How high does the volume on the head unit go? Either turn it up, or turn up the gain on the DSP.

Thanks for your input gijoe not sure about max volume off the top of my head but I saw online somewhere these head units start clipping at mid 30’s
So would you say I have it all connected ok? Would using the rear RCA’s to supply the dsp 2 of the 4 channels be better than just splitting the 2 front channels into 4 on the dsp?

you shouldnt need to run additional inputs to your dsp. I would suggest setting your head unit to a point before clipping (you say it clips at mid 30's, so set it at 30,
Reset your eq to 0, and do as gijoe suggested... Raise your dsp to a level your comfortable with.
You may also want to check your mixer on the dsp, and be sure you have it set to the proper channels. (im assuming it is, since you said it was fine pre-eq.)
did you make major cuts on your eq?
Im going to assume this is merely a setup issue in the dsp itself.
