Codec Codec

A codec is a method of compressing and decompressing digitized sound. MP3 and WMA are examples of different codecs. In the standard CD audio format, one minute of music takes up to roughly 10 megabytes. When converted to MP3, that same minute of music takes up only about 1 megabyte.
