Default 04 Dodge Ram QC daily setup

Well been looking around DIY for the last few weeks as I'm looking at installing my first setup in probably about fifteen years. Well the kids are almost grown and time for some new toys for dad.

So about the truck. Not interested in carving anything up at this point. Bought new and lives in the garage. Looking to use factory locations which includes the dash (3" or 4" wideband, tweeterless). Rear doors well i dont sit there and factory location is way too close to tune out of the front with any ease. 8's or 10's sealed under rear sets and even thogh there isnt much room all the pre fab boxes seem to put the sub way to close to the rear bench for my liking so building my own.

HU: Kenwood Excelon 996 DSP built in (already installed)
FS: HAT Legatia, CDT, Hertz (tweeterless 6.5 in door)
Sub:TC Sounds Epic, FI Q high QTS, Sundown SA (.5 cu sealed max)
Amp (s): Zuki Hybrid 5, JL HD 900/5, Zapco (open to suggestion)

Looking to run fully active not looking to compete just want it tight and clean. Any suggestions welcome hard to work 50+ a week and get out to shop. So help me stay out of the box.

Nice head unit choice.

HAT and Audible Physics are great choices. Are you wanting to put a tweeter in the stock dash location, or a 3" driver?

My vote goes towards the Fi Q - always liked that subwoofer, but they like a LOT of power. The Boston Acoustics subwoofers tend to work well in smaller enclosures also.

I am partial to that Zuki amp you mentioned also, but the HD900/5 is a super clean and easy to hide option as well. And it's nice having the bigger power on that subwoofer channel with those.

Thanks "chithead" LOL. 3" wideband in stock location. May opt for a tweeter later but really dont like things to get too "tinny". Have tried to do some research on the audible physics but cant seem to find much.

Are you interested in going with DIY drivers, or go with a matching setup?

Reason I ask is I had an all Morel setup previously in my Ram, and absolutely loved it. Best sound I've achieved to date. But I'm going all DIY drivers this time.

Have looked into the Morel's. Problem is the longer i look at them the closer they get to my entire budget. LOL. For now I'm at the i have nothing stage and I'm not patient enough to piece it together. I'm pretty confident the Elates would go well beyond my expectations just cant drop that much on a component set and by everything else. Planning to get a good start and hand down to my son as i upgrade later.

By the way what did you use as a tweeter location with that setup.

I used the Hybrid Ovation II 6 Comp set, along with a single Ultimo SC 12" subwoofer. Just magical, that's all I can say. I mounted the tweeters off-axis in the A-pillars, pointed right at each other towards the middle of the windshield. Soundstage was spot on where it needed to be in every type of music.

Thanks for all the info chithead. Took a look at those Ultimo's and just wondering about that 12. Modelled it on Win ISD and came up around 1.6 for sealed. Did you work that into the same location i am planning for under the rear bench or perhaps center console up front. The 10 modelled out better for my thoughts on location. I have also kicked around the thought of a single sub which is how i went with my last setup years ago. and quite honestly would probably get me what i am really after. I'm getting too old dont want to get "too" loud. LOL. Really looking to get good solid punch not looking to hurt anybody.

I actually have a regular cab, and the single 12" sealed was perfect. My enclosure was 1.6 sealed, not including driver displacement.
