      Well...let's look at a set of 300 dollar 3ways.
Amazon for sure. That's the only place a 300 dollar set of 3 way components as re available. New.
Look it up. I just did.
Let's use crutchfeild though. Keep it quality.
      Morel Maximo Ultra 603A MKII
      Cheapest thing they got.
No level adjustments or phase adjustments at all. You get what you get. Better have a eq I guess.

Now let's looks at what a grand gets you.
      Alpine HDZ-653
Pretty big difference I would say.

All depends on what you're starting with in the base, many pro systems are going with tweeters & active DSP amp as a stage 2 before touching the bass & mids.

I'd take the Morel's and add this Sony XM-GS6DSP

$830 spent, leaves me some money to get a clean (possibly digital) signal from source.

      dang it! lol
yeah, if they made a modern element ...
i did not think i would love this thing as much as i do. my other car is a civic type R and it now mostly sits in the garage. it's so goofy and so FUN to drive the element!!
Or you could be the Guinea Pig for us and give the new Alpine STATUS HDZ-653 3-way set a go...then report back. :p

      Seems to be a bargain at $1,000 for a high-end 3-way.
