i had the sub and port UP for the longest time until today.

i turned sub and port back and then a few hours later, the sub starts "shutting off" after 17 or so volume.

usually it would go up to 35 (max) but was also self shutting off at this volume with the sub and port back after I turned it.

i thought it was the wires, but it's the sub

i also smell some burning or something when it's shutting off each time. it will play the bass fine, then when i reach 17-18 volume it just clicks off and then click and click and click, etc.

any ideas what is happening?

This may be a long shot, but have you had someone turn up the volume until it goes off, while you looked at the protect light on your amp? It's a possibility.

This is the first sub I bought and also the first one I've damaged. I've had it almost 2 years?? so I say I've got my use out of it.

Is it possible to repair it? Sell it?

Could be. But I still hear the click from the sub itself, smell the smell, etc
