Hello all, so I am putting together a system from the ground up in my 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan SEL premium. I will be removing the third row of seats as well as the spare tire, so I have a bit of room back there. I I'm going to be working with some installers to do some interior custom fabrication. I have two 12-in Focal subwoofers (K2 Power E 30 KX) that will each have a JL HD 750/1 powering it. Would there be any benefit to having both of these subwoofers in the same enclosure, AKA a dual sealed or ported enclosure, versus having each subwoofer in its own enclosure (aside from space saving)? I kind of like the idea of having the subs inseparate enclosures, one on each side of the cargo space, but Im still early in the planning phase. I can't find much info on having dual versus separate enclosures, only info on sealed versus ported. Any help would be great. Here's a full list of thr hardware going in to this system:
Head unit: OEM Head unit
Line Level and DSP: AudioControl DM-810
Cabin Speaker Amp: Focal FDP 6.900
Front Stage: Focal ES 165 KX3
Rear speakers: Focal ES 165 KX2
Subs: 2x Focal K2 Power E 30 KX
Sub amps: 2x JL Audio HD 750/1

Another question I have is about installing the three-way component front stage speakers, as my vehicle currently only has space for a woofer and a tweeter. The speakers come with a mid-range and Tweeter pod to mount somewhere, but I'm wondering if being in a tiny sort of flimsy pod would affect the quality of the mid-range driver sound (vs fabricating a new spot in the door somewhere, oh which I forgot to mention will have dynamat door kits installed). How much appreciate any help with these questions, or any of the thoughts on my system as I am just now starting to plan it as I finally received all the parts. Thanks!

I’m interested in this also for my subwoofer set up. Subscribed. The midrange tweeter pods could be custom built or you could modify the ones it came with to dampen them more. The more solid they are the better.

No real acoustic benefit to making separate boxes. You could make an argument that shared enclosures are better for a few reasons. But that's all very marginal. Positioning and aiming can have a more influence on response but not much. If you want them to install two boxes fiberglassed into either side of the cargo space that might offer a good space savings. If you dont need the space savings I would just stick to some simple enclosures that you can pull out when you need more space. Maybe the installer will have some better idea.

Typically you install a mid on the A pillar, sail panel, or dash. Probably something you need to work through with the installer. That included pod doesn't look all the attractive...

You’re using nice equipment there, not taking the proper time to thoroughly plan and implement it would be a shame. Hopefully your installer will test locations for the best possible response vs realistic mounting options. If I were in your shoes, I’d build 2 simple enclosures to test in the configurations you mentioned plus more if necessary. The opposing subs may create a cardioid effect, I believe is the right term, and be great. Or a more traditional rear facing arrangement may be better. For the level of equipment you have, spend on a few more on labor hours and have the installers nail the locations.
