I wasn’t going to do a build log on my Escalade because it was supposed to be a pretty basic, low-budget build. But we all know how that goes.

I have acquired some really nice gear for this and I’ll be doing the install soon.

Stay tuned for some center channel goodness.

Haha, yeah the Silverado pretty much stays connected to a trailer and only gets driven from late spring through fall. Then the Escalade gets used for everything else.
The audio in the Silverado was so nice last year, so here we are doing the same thing to the Escalade 🤣

Love me some centre ch action!!! Then you got the big caddy. I've always wanted an escalade. I'm in for the ride.

I was interested in 15” subwoofers until I realized the size of box they need. I settled on 2 SQL-12’s on 4k watts. Just kidding, 2,000 watts lol

Yesterday I got the speaker wire harness installed. This is really simple, but time consuming to get to it. This harness works by unplugging the speaker output connector from the factory amplifier and plugging this into it. Then, I will connect the wires to the outputs of my Helix V Eight and it will feed signal to all of the speakers without running new wires to every speaker. You will have to run new tweeter wires because the tweeter signal comes from the front door speakers, they do not have their own channel.

I thought I would be able to get to the plug just by removing the cup holders and reaching in. You can reach the plug by doing this, but you can not get enough leverage to unplug it because it’s a very tight area to get your hand into. So, you have to remove about 10 screws around the center console and tilt it up, then you have perfect access.

I purchased the harness from a guy that only has information about these on YouTube. If you search “GM Bose integration harness” his videos should be the first ones that come up. He makes a bunch of other kinds of wire harnesses for all years of GM vehicles. Also, he’s local to me in Illinois so that’s pretty cool.

I will be mounting the Helix V Eight and subwoofer amplifier on an amp rack under the dash/in the center console. This was first made out of cardboard and modified until it fit perfect. Then, it was traced onto ABS sheet and cut with a jigsaw. (Bosch plexiglass jigsaw blade works great on ABS).

The strips you see here are risers for the DD Audio M2000 to sit on so that it can breathe underneath. The 2 holes on the left slide over the factory subwoofer mounting studs, and will secure the amp rack when it’s installed.

The amp risers were glued on with ABS cement, but I still put some screws in through the bottom to be safe.

Test fitting the M2000, there is a lot of space in here.

You cannot fit the amps in this orientation. You could mount the V Eight separately back inside the center console in place of the factory amplifier. However, there is an easier and much cooler way to get these to fit.

Here is the solution to fit the V Eight. Just bent some brackets up from a piece of aluminum flat stock.

Started on wiring but not finished yet. Yes, this is 1/0 wire going into the Helix which is completely unnecessary. I don’t have any 4 gauge wire but I already had the input reducers and 1/0 wire. I’m using a Sound Mekanix distribution block which I have used in the past and really liked. For the remote wires I’m using OEM style TXL wire. I’ll pick back up from here tomorrow.

I ran the main 1/0 power wire through a thin metal cover in the front passenger floor and sealed it up with butyl rope. If you lift up the carpet it’s just a couple inches in from the edge, so it was really easy to run it through here. Then, it just snakes through under the carpet under the seat and up into the center console.
