I'm going to bring my build log over from SMD, to here. This is everything, from the old setup, to the current setup.

New to the forums. Here is my 2011 Chevrolet Aveo install. Nothing too fancy, soon to upgrade.

Install Consists of:
Eclipse CD3200 Head unit
Hifonics Brutus BRZ2400.1D
(2)Alpine Type-R 10's ([email protected]Ω)
Sealed box, that's on the small side.

P.S.- Please excuse my mess. The amp, rear hatch, and subs were dirty by the time I finished this install. They've been cleaned.
Pic 4 also shows 1 VC connected; 1 coil is shorted, so until I recone it, that's all she's got.

Update: I looked back through the pics I posted, and realized that they didn't really do the setup justice.

I built this into the back of my daily driver. The amp and enclosure are mounted to a sheet of mdf custom fit to the hatch. If I ever needed to, I can still access the spare tire. I simply roll the rear seats forward, and the whole setup pushes forward like a shelf or drawer.

OK guys,

the system has grown up a little.

We started by searching for a new setup, ended up designing the enclosure in Sketchup.

After the design was taken care of, we began removing the old setup.

Then we began cutting the new enclosure.
Of course, I couldn't have done it without my little helper.

Test fitting, double checking box height, baffle size, and seat slope.

By this point I was realizing that the rear cargo latches would need to be removed.

Clamping everything together. Gotta sand everything and get nice clean lines. (still had to figure out backwall angles and make final cuts.

Got the hardware together for final assembly.

My loving girlfriend, laying out the baffles so I can make my cuts for the port.

Figuring out the port was probably the hardest and most frustrating part of this build. I went through a few design changes, but finally settled on one that I'm more than happy with. Dealing with the limited space of this hatchback, I made the port 1-common wall, and the front of the port extends over across the enclosure and serves as the amp rack.

Here, I was testing the lines of the port, making sure everything lined up.

The inside port will need to be painted before assembling it, or placing it into the baffle. For this we have chosen metallic blue paint.

Base coat of black

Second coat is a silver, which adds a "flake" to the blue metallic (these are rattle cans).

The last coat is the metallic blue.

The paint had to be taped over to protect it during the rest of the install. Test fitting the port into the baffle again.

Next step was notching out the baffles. Here's one of the baffles notched out.

Now that we've gotten this far, time to glue and screw in the first baffle. Notice, the block sitting under the amp rack, it's allotting space for the second baffle. Don't notice my shop, it is in dire need of a serious cleaning, but that's after this project ;-)

I used the battery to hold down the port while the glue dried.

Got a few goodies in.

Couldn't spring for a new system and not have it setup right... A slightly used DD-1

It was only two-wire, so had to wire it to a relay.

Initially, had it located on dash.

I began to dislike the location, so moved it up onto the pillar.

Time for wiring

Out with the old.

In with the new.

Ok, back to the box.
Fast forward a little, second baffle has been cut and notched... It's now glued in place. Using wallboard joint compound to clean up edges a little.

Broke out the HVLP, enclosure is now all murdered out.

Took 2 people to put enclosure in the Aveo.

Almost 1 month into the project, my sub arrived!!!!

My girl, more excited than myself. I could barely get a picture before she cut open the box.

1 Diehard Platinum Grp65
Hifonics Brutus BRZ2400.1D
8-gauge Q-power wire for sub
Cheap Chinese voltage gauge (approx .3volt error)
1- 15" Ascendant Audio Mayhem sub
~4.2cu ft box tuned around 36Hz
1 "valet" switch. Pics to come on this.

Here's some new pics.

I added some warning decals, to cover up airbag labels.

Also, I forgot to show this in the build. I added a "valet" or "kill" switch.
If the key is removed, the system will not turn on. This switch looks at home in the dash, there was a nice empty placeholder I just drilled out.

Lol, yeah coulda been worded better... but they're from ebay... Appreciate it though... A lot of time went into figuring out what to buy and use in the space. Not too much room to work with. Still came out with around 4.2ft3 net volume for box.... But it is a tight fit.
