When I first looked at the car, it had 2 taps down at the kick panel. They worked so I used them. Well apparently they are wrong since the amps don't turn off (pdlc21, auto sensing turn-on) and there is a loud thump when the door shuts.

Is it ok to tap wires from just after the head unit?

I presume LOC means Line Output Converter. The JL version I checked calls for a 1A fuse; I assume most others are similar. If that's the case with yours, it will be no issue to use the radio circuit to power the LOC as well...

I meant where to find the best speaker wires lol.

Sorry if I wasn't clear. Looking for the best speaker wires to grab for the LOC input. Unsure if jbl/bose stock stuff.

The speaker leads will have a dc offset when thw radio is active, not just when the actual ignition is on. That won't change if you move your connections.

Use a fuse tap to get an actual ignition trigger for your remote lead.
