I don’t think there’s anything better at that price point…and I’m not convinced even at a higher price point.
I have to agree there.

Tho I’ll probably have an Accuton mid / tweet at some point in a vehicle in the next 5 years.

No…I’m loving the positive reinforcement of my splurge!

I didn’t set out to spend as much as I have, but the further I’ve gotten in this build, the more I’ve decided to “go big or go home”. You Only Live Once! **** it! It’s only money. 😂

These speakers should be in soon. I’ll get all the equipment together and do my best @RickWilson impression and get some pictures. 😊

I blame all of you and @AudioGal. Freaking next-level peer pressure!

Now I’m just waiting on the sub enclosure/amp rack and the pillar pods. The waiting is the freaking worse part.

So, it turns out I’m cursed. It seems the new truck has developed a leak in the back of the cab. When it rained, the back wall and seats were getting soaked. No big deal, it must be the third brake light…they always leak, right? Nope, after spending considerable effort and time making the third brake light all but nuclear proof, the truck still leaked as much as ever.

So, tonight I spent several hours taking the C and B pillars apart and dropped the headliner. I assumed it must be the “sharks fin” on top…nope. Not really surprising since I sealed it up good when I did the third brake light. As it turns out, it’s the damn back window. After finally developing a little common sense, I used a spray bottle to direct water where I wanted it, instead of just using a water hose. I can see at least one small crack in the window’s frame, and there are probably more.

Tomorrow will be spent arranging to have a new back window installed, then I’ll have to have it tinted, and the vehicle will have to be throughly cleaned inside and out. The inside will also need to be disinfected. I have a detail appointment scheduled for Monday…better push that back.

If nothing else, I found out tonight that taking down a headliner in a crew cab truck is a royal pain in the ass. Taking a third brake light back out after it has basically been fused to the truck with sealant isn’t fun either. I’ve got to figure out what I’ve done to piss karma off and try to balance things out.

Thankfully, I guess, I still have a little time since I’m waiting on the enclosure and a-pillar pods to arrive. My new dash mat arrived today and it looks nice, so there’s that. Maybe the Utopia midranges and woofers will come in this week…that would be nice. I guess I should be thankful that this happened now instead of after the new equipment is installed. Yeah…let’s go with that. Lucky me. 😐

I went through 3 incandescent third brake light bulbs in the first four years with my Ram.
Two new gaskets with plenty of sealant, and still several leaks after replacing.
Got feed up and switched to a full LED replacement housing with a doubled up gasket and some sealant. No problems yet, other than needing a resistor to clear the "brake light out" alarm.
Don't even get me started on malfunctioning Air Ride...

Dude - that sucks. Sorry man. With this being a 2020, ill it be covered under warranty? When I owned a collision repair shop we had a couple of flood vehicles come in (before EVERY car had computers and insurance would pay for repair). We pulled all the carpet, backing and anything else on the floor. Then used SEVERAL cans of Lysol or Clorox mold and mildew remover to spray the entire floor and sides to where the water was. Then heat up the spray booth toward the end of the day and leave the car in there overnight. Worked like a champ. If you're worried about mildew smell, you could try this with a couple space heaters. Just make sure you are being safe and not leaving them in precarious positions or unattended too long

That sucks, but at you found it before it caused any further issues or ruined your gear.

On another point, what's the story on all the dash mats? Am I missing out on something?

The dash mats are used to cut down on reflections in the vehicle. They work.
I have one coming for mine - need to have it modded to fit around my dash pods but curious to see if it makes any substantial changes.

They seem to work really well, especially if you are reflecting straight off the windshield. Just by using a towel, it seemed like I could better focus vocals (especially female) by dampening the reflection. If nothing else, maybe a future judge will see the mat and think “this guy knows what he’s doing”. Little will he or she know that I don’t have a freaking clue! 😂

Where does one acquire one of these magical mats?
I elected the Sedona Suede. I looked at several brands, and some folks on the site were using these. They do appear to be a step up in quality compared to other, similarly priced, options.
