Does an Epicenter do something more than your V12 already does?
View attachment 364324
I do believe it's similar. The epicenter is not necessary now that I'm doing a complete system. Only when I planned to add a sub to the existing factory HK system. Sounds to me like the epicenter just takes some low frequencies and lowers them X number of octaves so that lower range mid bass becomes sub bass. (sorry, that's the best my pea brain can explain lol)

I understood that it needed one in that scenario to compensate for the factory amp eq'ing the lows. But now that the factory amp is coming out and full integration is taking place, it's not necessary. Did I misunderstand that?
If your bypassing the amp and getting signal before the amp, you may be good 👍. The the factory amp that does all the filtering and EQing.

I use the Augmented bass at 31hz though I'll play it lower then take some measurements and see what it does.

Subbed. Great set of gear and game plan. Excited to see the execution.

I firmly believe both the BLAM Signature and Live lines are the top contenders in their price points.

and we know all know how I feel about Helix - the V12 is a super tool

I appreciate the encouragement and confirmation on the equipment. It's been a long time since I've been this excited about something.

I’ve thought hard about Helix. Ultimately, I went with the VXi amps and their built in DSPs. If I find that I’m at a disadvantage at some point, I’ll purchase a Helix DSP Ultra and use it for processing and the VXi amps as amps only. My wallet prays that I don’t end up feeling disadvantaged any time soon. There are a lot of interesting features unique to the Helix units, and the ability to have multiple signal inputs is appealing (toslink plus coaxial). My folks down here are very good with the TUN software, much less so with Helix’s platform. I would probably just try to talk Nick into installing and tuning the Ultra. I’d probably be the only person running VXi amps with a Helix Ultra DSP on the planet…😂

I guess we’ll know soon. 🙂

The vxi amps look great and no slouches based on size to performance ratio. I think you’ll be quite happy. Although I’d be tempted for a P-Six Ultimate, P-Two, P-One combo. That’s a deadly trio imo

That’s my fav Class D combo out there. Add a 2nd P one for a front sub and I’m sold

Nice gear! Will you have it installed by the time of the Austin get together? I would also budget in a good professional tune to get it to sound it’s greatest.

Report back with your findings
I posted my finding here ⬇. I didn't want to flood OPs post with my REW graphs and shenanigans. 😃

If you have fixed the factory roll off or found a way to get a clean flat signal. Don’t need it. The place locally that does AC products has explained the use of epicenter and I never really saw the need. Think about certain recording like an old rock album or certain music. Some of those may be lacking in bass response, just how they were recorded. The epicenter does its thing and mixes in and adds back the low end that was missing. I’m not really a bass head so they also say some of the sub guys cone use them to try and get a bit more out of their sub stage. To me, never worth the money.
