Originally wanted to go with 2 15's in a trunk baffle but 12's would be easier to fit and the cone area of 3 12's is almost as much as 2 15's.

Anyway the Skar SDR 12's are on sale right now and that would help the budget but just wanted so opinions. 3 12's for under $300 is pretty appealing right now especially since the car restoration itself has been so expensive.

Car is a 1967 Firebird.

Without modeling them, that fs looks fairly high and the Xmax is pretty small. A single high excursion 15” like an sql 15 will probably have more output, especially down low.

If you can fit 15s, I think these NVX drivers look better on paper, you also save $100 bucks over three 12s. They claim to have a shorting ring as well which might be a good thing.. They also have lower fs.

Light blue is an Acoustic elegance 15au (popular high end Car IB sub) w/ 30 hpf - x1 ($400)

I dont think you can beat the GRS subs for $40 each. If you could fit the 15 nvx I would consider those first, the GRS x3 would be 2nd choice for only $120 total in subs is just too good a deal.

WTB 4-8 high excursion 12" budget subs or 4 high...

A lot of folks are using the JBL GT-X1200 (xmax =12mm, fs = 29hz) or similar for this kind of home theater project, but I'm looking to try an alternative budget sub with higher excursion, either new or used. Requirements: Fs < 30 the lower the better xmax > 12mm one-way, ideally much higher...

Wow, I can't believe how good the NVX 15 looks! That definitely makes me consider the 15's now. I absolutely can fit 15's it's just going to require a little more work since I will have to angle the baffle. Thanks for modeling the subs, really helps to have that visual!

I was considering a pair but I'm probably going to step up to the dayton HF 15s or a single AE au15. I don't need that much output and rather have the better performance.

I was really close to ordering the Dayton Max X 15's but when I looked earlier they're on backorder now. Just looking at the specs they seemed like they would well in an IB. Xmas was like 19mm, Qts .4, Fs 21.7hz and they're only $199ea.
