does anyone have any experience with this stuff? I'm planning to sound deaden the firewall on my powerstroke diesel truck (fairly loud) my thought was to put regular deadener on the inside of the firewall, then sandwich it with this.

My concern is heat, the exhaust downpipe coming out of the turbo comes VERY close to the firewall, and under heavy loads can see exhaust temperatures of upwards of 1200 degrees for an extended time if pulling a long hill etc... would the second skin firewall be ok in this application?

That would be too much for a cermic loaded coating.
Mostly 300 or less, applied on the interior side of the firewall.


Your best bet is to figure out what the temperature of the cabin side firewall is in your truck and go from there.
Chances are you don't have 1200 degrees coming through the cabine.. maybe 150-200 on the interior sheet metal. If this is the case then yes it will work. I might suggest a layer of Damplifier Pro or Firewall then follow up with Heat Wave Pro for best results.
I would not reccomend using our products on the engine side of the firewall however..

To bad this isnt sludge I would be all over it buying 10 gallons right now!

There should be a inch or two gap between your pipe and your firewall. I have a 4" down pipe on my 7.3 and there is about an inch between it and the firewall. I see 1400 EGT in the mani, probably 800-900 in the downpipe, and I would imagine the outside of the pipe doesn't get much over 500. There should be a bit of airflow in that area. Then there is an inch gap between that and the firewall. The firewall is going to be a pretty good heatsink. I guess I could put a thermo probe under my carpet up there, but I'd imagine you're fine.

is yours a super duty or an OBS? Im guessing since its a 4" with that much of a gap that its not an obs. I have to smash down a pinch weld to get a 3" into mine.

500 degrees is about the number that I imagined for the pipe
