Hey guys,

I'm curious to hear what you guys suggest on the 6ch amps and your theory's. I know I shouldn't really put all my eggs in one basket but I plan to get a really nice "basket". Let me know what you guys have tried and what your outcomes where so I can track down a 6ch amp.

Thanks,
Jayson

Tru Billet if you have the cash. Why? Customization. You can have virtually anything done to them, but at a price.

I was thinking McIntosh, Audison, A/D/S, old Rockford (maybe). It will be used for a 3-way front running at 4ohm stereo if this helps. Let me know if I'm missing some other brands other than what has been mentioned so far.

I would agree with the Zapco DC reference amps, cant beat the built in processing. Now if that isnt enough power then I would look into the new Zed 6 channel coming out, 150wrms x 6 @ 4 ohms, or 300wrms x6 into 2 ohms all in a package only about 19" long

I have an older ADS 830x

Does 40x8. Bridge two channels and you get 40x4 and 160x2 (I think). Plus it has built in high pass, bandpass and low pass crossovers that are highly configurable. It's a shame I haven't found a place to use it yet.

Also have an ADS 630 (i think that's the model) 30x6 nice little amp, but does not have the crossovers like the 830x does. Would be nice for a low volume 3 way front.

I love a/d/s/. Fantastic sounding amps, but they were always low on power. They're good for a modestly powered system, but they don't leave much headroom. I think the others are better options if you want any kind of headroom at all.

phonocar ph2000. It would be a unique peice in america, don't think you can get em here. You would also have to bridge a pair of channels to get it down to 6 channels.

From what i gather some are sold with a wired remote to control xovers on it, so it seems like it's xover functions are advanced.

Hey Focal, just curious if a 5ch amp wouldn't work for you ???

I've got all of my eggs in one bad-ass basket, and couldn't be happier.... but its a 5ch. And BTW, I'm running a 3 way active + 1 passive.

Anyway, I still think this is BY FAR the best value for a big, bad-ass 5ch amp on the market: Rockford Fosgate POWER-1000 5-Channel or more Amps Car Amplifiers Car Audio and Video - Sonic Electronix

This 5ch amp might be a bit better. A little stronger, more proffessional looking, class A on the highs + the "middle two" stereo channels are stronger than the front two... excellent for a mid-bass setup...
However, this amp is 2 to 3 times the cost of my 5ch amp;
Audison - Music Expression

Oh hey, while your looking at this amp, you might see that Audison does actually have a 6ch amp if that's what you must have, but I don't think it's as bad-ass as their 5ch. Might be cheaper though.

Peace,
Fish

I have a A/D/S PH30.2 that does 75x6 and I would have to disagree with this statement. I have tons of headroom and I'm not just saying that because it's for sale :) While some of the older style A/D/S amps did have issues with power supplies I think they resolved this in the .2 versions of their amps. Which A/D/S amps were you running?? I think they are amazing, because you can run them in any configuration you want.

How much for this A/D/S you have for sale?

I had a PQ10 at one point. They are a tiny bit underrated, but 75w just doesn't allow for much headroom unless you are running a low-power system. It's not a design flaw, it's just that a/d/s/ never made powerful amps. In some ways they didn't need to. My a/d/s/ comps had 94dB sensitivity IIRC. A lower power amp will work just fine with those.

Bear in mind this is coming from someone who can't tolerate only 150w per channel. I need about 250w to my woofers to be happy, 125 to the tweeters.
