Hi All,

This is for one of my friends, he deals with B2 audio and wanted me to model an enclosure for B2 Ref12. The company recommends only sealed box between .7 - 1.2 Cuft which was surprising to begin with since the EBP for this is around 92.7 which is ideally suited for ported (IMO). To add to this, the Q for the box as per recommendation is < .5 which comes under critically damped enclosures. WinISD gave a not-so-surprisingly high value for F3 (>70). Attached are the screenshots of Winisd. Any pointers/suggestions would be really helpful.

T/s for the driver for your ready reference:
Power handling*: 600 wrms
Sensitivity: 88,3 dB
Nominal impedance: Dual 4Ω
X-Max: 20 mm
Equivalent Compliance (Vas): 114,3 L
Free Air Resonance (Fs): 20,4 Hz
Electrical “Q” (Qes): 0,22
Mechanical “Q” (Qms): 3,52
Total Speaker “Q” (Qts): 0,2
DC Resistance (Re): 4.2 Ω
Magnet weight (Oz): 2 x 76 Oz

Thanks,
Venki

I don't trust those specs. I've been measuring drivers for a couple decades now, and I've never seen a woofer than genuinely had a qts of 0.20.

I'd order a Dayton WT3 or DATS and test the woofer before building a box.

Thanks Patrick for pitching in :). I do have WT3 in hand, will measure the specs once I get hold of these and post it here. Hope specs would turn out to be different from what the company says :).

Cheers,
