Any ideas as to when Alpine is replacing this unit, they currently offer the H650 however that is meant for factory integration and I realy want something that will connect/operate diectly with one of thier optical based H/U & DVD Changers.

The H701 is a decent unit however its using last generation DAC's (BB 16xx instead of 17xx as used in the Pioneer RS/ODR systems), it is still plagued with volume control/noise issues etc... and I dont wona risk getting one of ebay.

I'm pretty sure they haven't released any information about anything that would replace the h701.

you could get the h900 - I don't think it has any of those issues.

Your other options would be:

BitOne (not easy to find, and currently working out issues)

RF 360 - (2 of them if you need 4-way)

Alpine H900 (no noise issues like the h701, but dang its expensive)

Zapco DSP6 (2 if you need 4-way)

i dont get any noise thru my h701, you could most likely swap tha DACs if they are the same form, dont know how much that would help anyways
