I'm trying to find a definitive answer and havens had much luck... do I need to have the RUX to use this processor? I have an Alpine 957HD and I want to hook up the PXA. I'm on a budget so I was hoping to buy the processor first and tune with the computer for a little while. Later Ill buy the RUX.Some people tell me I need both and others have said I don't. I called Alpine twice and talked to 2 different people with 2 different answers. I'm afraid they are just trying to get me to spend more money...any help?

I own not only both but the Alpine INA-W910. When I was shopping around for mine, I was told that I would be able to use the H800 minus the RUX controller..

Typically, current Alpine head units with a digital out connected to and a system setting for "audio processor" should be able to do rudimentary control on the PXA-H800 from the head unit. Whether it will allow full functionality or not without the RUX controller is another matter, but once the unit is set up via computer the head unit should at least power it on and off and be able to use existing settings.

^^I don't have either piece in-hand to try it myself and confirm, but chiming in on/bumping the main thread on the PXA-H800 may get you someone who does.

I don't think this will work because the 957 does not have ai net, not positive though. The 910 Coppertone has does have ai net, that is why I think his works.

Yes you are correct. I'd have to use rca's or optical cable. Some one said that it won't even turn on with out the RUX.

The H800 needs a laptop or the C800 to power up if you don't have an Ai-Net connection.

Plus I also have the optical cable run with mine to keep everything quiet as a Church mouse.

If you're only going to run optical from the hu to the h800 youll definitely need the c800 to control the volume. If you run RCAs then you'll be able to control volume from the hu.

no, they made a C700 for that purpose

U need the c800 or a headunit with ainet....it u r running optical u will have to use the c800 to control
volume...also with the h800 u can make tuning adjustments right from it and save presets
