Amp: older Hionics zues xi
Head unit: Apline x7hd

My amp cuts out then turns on a few minutes later. This happens most (if not only) when i turn the subwoofer volume on the head unit up. The head unit subwoofer rca output is pretty weak, so I want to be able to turn this up. I installed a line driver today, jumping the remote wire from the amp to the line driver. and both devices cut out and turn on at the same time. Note that the amp cut out before the line driver was installed. Could I need a relay to fix the problem? To get a stronger more constant remote?

The amp does not go into protective mode, just cuts out and the green power light fades away.

I also jumped the power wire from the amp to the line driver, fused of course.

Now thinking about it, the amp has cut out with the head unit sub volume all the way down

Thanks for any input,
Joe

Bad ground or not large enough wire. When I had 8 awg to my JL 450/4 it would cut out if the truck was off and the stereo cranked. switched to 4 awg and never had that issue again.

My wire is large enough but I think our problems were the same. I had the car on idle/slow stroll while playing the radio. Amp never shut off when alternator was running at higher rpm. I think my voltage from the battery got too low. Have 180a alternator currently. Going to try to upgrade to dry cell battery from stock.
