Hi everyone,

Need your help and good advise for my install.

I have a BMW E46 sedan and I want to install an IDMAX 15 IB facing forward through ski-pass.

My current system includes Pioneer 80PRS head unit, Audison Bit One, Morel Elate 602 for front stage (passive powered by PP PC650.2), 10 inch underseat woofer for lower midbass.

The Elates and underseat woofers act as a pseudo 3-way and im quite happy with the midbass (have it covered easily up to 50-60Hz :D ). Now for sub bass, I have 2 S10L7s in ported boxes for the last 10 years, which I am desperate to change for the pursuit of better SQ.

I got the IDMAX 15 and now I need advise for an amp for IB install. Iv seen a lot of members using 2 subwoofers for IB install so do you think 1 IDMAX 15 will not be enough for IB? Also I understand the power requirements for an IB install is greatly reduced. So which amp should I get (Budget: $300 :( )? I was thinking of MRX-M110 (for headroom? ;) ) but I honestly have no experience with IB but Im intruiged and determined with all the good experiences of other members.

Any advice will be very helpful  .

Cheers!

The IDMAX15 has a lot of displacement, so it can get pretty loud in IB.

However, output compared to your ported setup will vary. At the tuning port, your ported box will probably be louder, but below it the IDMAX15 should be and will go lower. Model it to get a general idea.

It can take power in IB, so feed it if you have it.

iv got D4.

Another question. Normally it gets really hot around here during summer. The AC helps cool my trunk and the amps through the ski pass. Now if I install the IDMAX in IB that means effectively sealing the whole trunk from the cabin. So thatl like make my trunk into a sauna. How can I cool the amps?

Some people install computer fans in a rack to cool amps. With class D amps taking over, this is becoming less and less of a problem. Class D gives great power, and stays cool doing it.

I think a single IDMax 15" should satisfy you, I run 2 AE SBP 15's, and I don't use them to their fullest, but keeping excursion low was a specific requirement for me. I"m under the impression that the IDMax can take a pretty good amount of power IB, but keep in mind that it won't handle as much as it would in an enclosure.
