Amp on fire!

Well.not fire but too hot to touch. please keep answers serious as this is really bothering me.
its a Skar RP.150.4ab amp.
in order to keep it alive ive put steel mesh on the bottom and added 2x140mm fans hooked to the fan header as it runs 24/7 and now ive added a 12” radiator fan to make sure it doesn’t go into protection.
ohms is between 2-4 on each channel. But its the AMOUNT of speakers that worry me.
4x-6x9”
2x- 8” full range
4x- 3.5” componant.
6x- tweeters

too many speakers being driven? I do add some bass around 220hrz
so whats next? Im gonna remove some speakers today if it doesn’t rain.
i really like the sound of the amp and speakers.
so if i need another amp, what do you suggest in the $200-$250 range?
i am considering the CT Sounds CT-150.4D Full-Range Class D 4 Channel Car Audio Amplifier, 1000 Watts RMS

How are the speakers wired up? Series or Parallel or a combination?

If you simply wired them up with all the negatives and positives connected to the amp then you're likely running at less than a 1/4 of an ohm.

Agreed, with 20 speakers on 4 channels, i am looking forward to this answer. Might be best to let it burn. :)
Look into a oldie Punch 30 by Rockford, i rember it was able to do like 30 speakers if wired up PROPERLY !

Too many speakers. And too many different types and sizes also. Trying to series parallel those to work and sound right isn’t going to happen.

i suggest research on here. You’ll realize you have too many tweeters among other things. There’s a lot of good people on this site and let me warn ya, being new you are going to see how much more is involved in car audio and go ahead and forget anything you think you know because you don’t. I was one of those guys aboit 5 years ago and as a matter of fact I also started with the same Skar amp and lots of speakers. I was down to two tweeter in a couple days. Lol. Then I researched and learned about going active and I was hooked and went down the rabbit hole of no return.

Guys im not dumb, or dumb about car audio. Yes its been a while, but i learn fast.
i can still go back to my audio expert DSP so i can get better control of things
its rainy today in ohio, but ill try and unhook unnecessary speakers.
i still think ill need another amp to run what i want.
I took the DSP out as its been a very long time out of the game and i needed to see just where it would help me.
on thing is i dont listen to rap,its all hard rock so i do like high volumes and tight bass.
ill keep the thread updated if people like to see what im doing wrong.

With all due respect, I see a slight contradiction between these two posts. ;)

I can take advice, encouragement and help.
just not put downs and snide remarks.
im asking for help, wouldn’t it be better taken if it was advice instead of a put down.

when i first started i was using an Expert DSP and took it out so i could remember and refresh my old knowledge and know i be coming back to the DSP as everyone suggested.
ill try and get it in today and back the tweeters off.
My post is not at all meant as a put-down or snide remark. It is merely an observation.

Check out the BCAE link I posted. At the very least, it may help you sort out your series/parallel speaker situation.

Well when you say you know what your doing but a post suggests massively otherwise it’s pretty hard to take you seriously…

tweeters won’t take lots of energy… wrong end of the spectrum! But reducing tweeters to two in total will also do you a massive favour in other respects

Start with how is everything wired to the amp & what ohm load per channel. Also specs on your speakers would help. Full specs as you will get a better understanding from the guys as to why your amp is running hot. Short answer tho.

You need more amps and likely another dsp

Not listening to rap is cool, but everything else screams I need a DSP to process sound of every speaker.

Rap just goes Boom. Everything else is tuned to sound natural or authentic.

Well then answer the question.

How are they connected?

I could care less if you want to run 24 tweeters - I'll even explain to you how to hook them up so you have the correct load on your amp.

But we have to start somewhere so in order to help you I need to know what make and model all your drivers are and how do you currently have them connected?

I would like to better understand how all this is wired. Even with DSP, dont know how this could control the amount of speaker especially if a whole lot of passive crossovers are not being used.

I am curious as to how you have all this wired to an acceptable ohm rating.

I dont do series on speakers, only parallel.
i do agree about too many tweeters and to many speakers overall.
ill start at the front and work my way back.

front- l+r are the same as is everything side too side.
2-Skar t1t tweeters, skar 3.5” and 6x9“ on fronts side to side. So 6 speakers on front channel.
back seat is my Skar sub box with an [email protected] each as i have two and two amps running that.
top of the box is 2x DS18 sealed back 8” full range,Skar 3.5” mid and DS18 higher quality tweeters. This is connected to the rear deck parallel.
back window is a 2“ tweeter and a 6x9”
rear channel + box is 10 speakers.

my plan is to unhook the tweets in the front channel.
box ill unhook the sealed 3.5” Skars and possibly keep the Ds18 tweeters if possible.
rear window ill unhook the tweeters there also.
this will illimanate 8-10 speakers, mainly tweeters.

if the rain holds out ill get the dsp in today.
ive measured each channel and they were 4ohms too 2.5 ohms.

just treat me like anyone else who’s car audi knoledge is lacking, but respect me as a person and ill do the same. Of course i know there is an issue and need help clearing it out.

i may keep my Soundstream module for bass as i need a good bass gain at my fingers and not on my ipad/iphone.

You have answered your problem! Assuming you have this installed in a sedan. You should only be running two pairs of speaker system.
