Would a 3500 watt amp overpower a 2500 rms sub? What prevents the amp from supplying too much power to the sub

The volume and gain knobs are what do it.
There is no power coming out of a 3500W amp when the volume is low.

That 3500W is like 5 hoursepower, so I doubt you need much more.
How loud does it go?

Oh yeah idk y I didn’t think of that. I haven’t installed yet. I’m getting 2000 watt amp with it and planned on upgrading when I get the money. With a more powerful amp than the sub can handle is there a way to know when I would be pushing it too much?

My advice is to either use th 2kw amp and enjoy it at reasonable level, or do the alternator and a stack of batteries, etc.

Doing some interim aproach and upgrading alter (when you have more money) will just gobble up more money.

A 2kW amp is not a week amplifier... it should be more than enough for most people not competing for ear bleeding power.
Or save up if you feel you really want the whole 3500w.

Of course ^this^ is all just opinion...

You need some serious juice to get 3500 watts from your vehicles electrical system and that’s not even including front stage amplifier

Let’s just for arguments sake say you have a 3500w sub amp and a 300w front stage amp, you will need about 360 amps at full tilt
