I have a jbl gto5ez I picked up for my dodge truck. I sold the dodge around a week later so hardly used it. I picked up a suburban To build a bigger system in. I have been using the jbl. I had it running components in front doors, and coax in rear doors. Initially had the sub channel running 2 Boston g2 15's. It ran them really well. 300 watt rms subs single 4 ohm voice coils. Seemed to push them to their potential. I sold the g2's and downsized to single Memphis 12. 400 rms sub dual 4 ohm voice coils. Runs this sub very well, but I decided 1- 12" sub just isn't going to cut it. I would rather have bigger and turn it down. But have the output there when I want it. I picked up 2 unused powerbass 2xl-15d4 15" subs today for a good deal on Craigslist. Now I have to decide on amps. These are dual 4 ohm voice coil 600 watt rms Subs.

Option 1. Pick up a second jbl gto 5ez. $225.00 to run one sub per mono section at 2 ohms. 500 rms to each sub. And run my door speakers on other channels. I am going to have a 3 way front stage.

Option 2. Sell the jbl. Buy a large 1 ohm stable monoblock. Then I will still have to purchase a couple more amps to run everything else. This will be a costlier option. But I want to do what's best and be done with it.
At least for awhile.

I would just use the 5 channel as a 4 channel and get a 1 ohm stable mono for the subs.

I am still going to need An additional amp to run everything. That's why my thoughts on adding a second one. I want to bridge it 150 watts a side to my jbl c508gti components, and bridge another to some 8" midbass drivers to be my next purchase.
