I purchased a Kenwood X4R and installed it yesterday. The amp has a digital voltmeter display. When I finished installing everything and fired up the system, the amp's voltage meter read 11.6 volts. My radar detector showed 12.4 volts. I thought there might be a bad ground or contact somewhere -- so I brought out the Fluke -- The battery measured at 12.3 volts on the terminals, and the power-ground contacts on the amp itself measured at 12.5 volts.

Anyone know how accurate these sorts of meters are supposed to be? .9 volts low seems like a pretty huge difference. Should be concerned about an internal voltage drop or anything?

There's probably a calibration pot inside the amp somewhere, I would guess its very close if not the volt meter board.

I would like to take a listen sometime. I like those a lot ;)
