I have a newish Phoenix gold zpa 0.5 and 0.3, and was contemplating selling and taking the cash from the sale to buy a 'modern day' Sq amp, although do the make ém like they used to, and therefore should keep these amps? Or should i go for something like the new Hertz Hdp amps...

Those ZPAs are good SQ amps with gusto, just need new input caps.
New caps is DIY dooable, Valeks services them if you don't want to DIY.
There are plenty of good quality new amps available.
Buying new and authorized gets you a warranty.
If it were my choice I would use the ZPAs, recapped.

Also, the ZPA's require the external caps and line driver in order to get the most out of them. I love OS Phoenix Gold but you may want to consider selling and buy something more current.

They do not require external caps, but they wont hurt. You do/will want a line driver as these NEED an 8v signal for them to achieve their fullest potential.
You will want to replace the internal caps have they not been done yet.

I used to run one of each, miss them both. My 0.3 was modded, but left the 0.5 alone.
