Well, I drug out my boat (Sea Ray 200BR) that had been sitting for 4 years and started the repair and refb process. Mechanical repairs are almost done and Im starting on the interior next, so I thought why not put a respectable system in too. I have a good sub amp, an older Zapco ref 750.2 to use with 2 10's. Now I need to come up with a decent 4 channel amp to run two sets of comps. In a boat, size is an issue but I dont think great specs are that important. I'd like to get decent power for the buck, but I dont want to feel bad about putting a good amp in an environment that may trash it with moisture. Yet dedicated Marine amps dont advertise much power. Im toying with a Lanzar vibe series 4 channel. Good prices, doable specs for an open environment. Any feedback on these?

Nice Boat & build. A little out of my budget (the boat). I have a friend with a Cobalt 21' and they arent the flashiest boats, but are the boats built to last your lifetime. They Use Aluminum I beam stringers and a boxed aluminum transom framework. Definately built like a tank! FYI the duo prop is to neutralize torque pull of the bigger motors. they counter rotate and are more efficient.

I'll look into the RF marine speakers too. And I do plan on running 2 batteries with an Isolator. Dont want to have the stereo leave me stranded in a cove with a low battery.

I've messed with several vibe amps.
I had a 430 and 230 in my old car a few years back. Also put a 230 in my sister's Regal (boat). No problems with any of those.

I had a headache with a 1200D, but Lanzar eventually sent me a good replacement.

I bought a 430 of ebay more recently, used it in my boat for a while as well -- had a intermittent channel problem, but it would always work eventually.

Overall a decent choice on a budget in my experience.

For reference - I'm now running a pair of '99-'00 Zed Optidrives.

Thanks N2 for the response. I'll remember that for the future budget systems. Actually, I just picked up a US Acoustics USB 4085 from Audio Clinic. For $ 82.00 shipped, I couldn't hardly go wrong.

I want to do horns in a boat SO BAD!

Seriously, wouldn't that rock?

As expensive as boats are, I think they deserve the best treatment.

It might sound pretty good. But my first high end home speakers were Klipsch Forte's with horn loaded mids and tweets. They play loud and sound pretty good, but I think its an acquired taste. They may sound better in an open environment like a boat. I had a hard time getting used to them and went back to conventional driver designed speakers for my home system.
