Hello all! My nephew had someone build him a slot-ported box and I think he may have messed it up??? It holds 6 JL 13W1V2's (3 in one chamber, 3 in another) If I give the measurements, can someone let me know what it's tuned to?

Seems logical! lol! But, one more question, after measuring the port widths, the port width in the back (Behind magnets) is 2.25", but the port width that leads to the front is 1.5". Is that ok? I always thought they were supposed to be the same?

I dont understand what your saying, you mean the back of the port is 2.25 and the front of the port is 1.5? If so, then no, that's not ok.

Pics would be helpful.

Sorry! no pics available, BUT: Picture if you are looking at the box: The front port width is 1.5" till you reach the end of that port length(going deep, into the box that is...). Then the other part of the port (the part that would make the "L") is 2.25" away from the back of the box. So, in all practicality, there's a 2.25" port that's about 7.5" long that turns into a 1.5" port that goes to the front of the box that's 15.75" long.
DAMN, I can't explain it any better! I only use sealed boxes because I'm more into SQ, but I just want to know what's going on with my nephews box! It sounds good and loud, but I want to know what the specs are! He really don't care because it's loud! AND it is! but I want to know because I'm picky like that! sorry for the rant!

This is internal port width, correct? Your not accidentally counting for a piece of 3/4" MDF or anything? If not, than the port is built incorrectly and there's not telling what the tuning is.

No, it is actually the internal width. I really don't know much about ported boxes, but I do know that both port widths are supposed to be the same! I just wasn't sure if it would be a bad thing or not. He is my nephew, afterall, and I do love him and don't want to see him get screwed over! I am fully capable of building a box for him, but I never messed with ported boxes. Would anyone care to give me dimensions for a good ported box for him? I could give the size he has to work with... and he listens to mostly rap... I told him 6 in a sealed box would be plenty loud, but he's pretty insistant on a ported box just to be annoyingly loud... I don't get it...
