Sounds like some ID horns would fit your bill perfectly. Those are supposed to be great speakers btw, good choice.
Sounds like some ID horns would fit your bill perfectly. Those are supposed to be great speakers btw, good choice.just bought a F-150... the stock speaker is a 6 X 8 in the front and rear doors. since the speaker is oval, figured i mind aswell try out the almost new image dynamics XS69. i heard this speak kicks some serious arse. i wanna go active and not use the id tweeter. any suggestions for an open, airy, clear but not super bright tweeter? you think the dynaudio md130 would match up well with this mid driver? i listen to mostly metal.... if there is such a thing, i want this geared more toward SQL.

Well now, since you mention that, there are mini size horn bodies available that would most certainly fit.hmmm... my interior is a little different. that emergency brake looks like it might give me a little trouble if i go with a full size horn![]()
I hear you on that one, those cd2 pro's are pretty f'ing pricey.if i go that route i'd get the ultra's. eric said there's not much of a difference between the cd2 pro's and the ultra's. he did say that the cd2 pro comps will play a little lower...

I just grabbed that one as an example, there are a lot of great horn drivers out there.
Glad to see you are considering it though, it would be a kick ass setup for sure, and IMO, dead simple to install.
Yeah that's a whole different animal right there, you may want to consider multiple shallow mount subs if space is a big issue.my only concern now is subs... not a whole lot of room in the rear cab. for that loud front stage i'm gonna need some bass from the rear to keep up. i always go the idmax route, but i imagine i'd have to remove the rear seat to go that route![]()
Your interior (drivers side vents) look perfect for some 3" midranges. You could ACTUALLY pull off stereo in a vehicle using them.hmmm... my interior is a little different. that emergency brake looks like it might give me a little trouble if i go with a full size horn

Since you have the center console shifter, I'm assuming the back of your center console looks like mine did. I had a 2005 Lariat SuperCrew. I built a sealed enclosure for a single 10" Alpine Type X that really had some serious output. Downfiring seemed to load it off the floor immensely, and I had more output from that 10" than I did from a 12" upfiring but running off the same power. Here is what mine looked like:yeah... that's an option too. however, i think i wanna run horns now. glad buddy reminded me of my desire to run them a long time ago.
my problem now is subs. i'm gonna need a sub stage that will keep up with that super efficient front stage. dont have much room in the back. i'd like to keep the rear seat.

I re-vinyled it once I found some that matched OEM a little better, but you get the general idea. Two people could still sit VERY comfortably, although you lose your rear AC vents. I'm sure they could be relocated if it was that important. Best of all, it looked very stealth for what it was. Anyway, something to kick around.
