I have to decline some requests based on the account of the user. Like if a girl joins, for me it's obviously a red flag. If the account has no posts or is locked and haven't joined any other car audio groups that is another red flag. My group is very clean, no bots, no fake accounts. If you want to join, please DM me directly and I will approve. Sorry for the inconvenience.
So yea I get the idea, but I did mention this was my wife's account which she barely uses FB as well, similar to myself. I have joined a few other groups with her account including Kart Racing if that makes a difference. Sounds like you were simply not aware when declining them, lol. So all good. (y)

I will send you an IM with her account name so you can validate that's me. Once joined I will introduce myself as "me".

Thanks again for putting all this together, this guide, the group and cathul's guide are amazing! :geek:

Thanks.

Why? Can’t girls do Sq? I know several who do… 🙈😂 @AudioGal you’re not allowed to join… it must be like a men’s club… 😂😂
Haha @dumdum we are out here few and far between and some of us have a pretty decent technical background outside of the hobby (work related). However it would not be the first time or last time to tell you the truth!!!! The amount of negative energy and outright hate i have received locally in this hobby would shock most of you i am afraid. To be clear though DIYMA has been awesome and a welcome outlet for all to enjoy the hobby and participate. :)

One thing I like with living down under is the girls and cars thing has been debunked for some time. Events like hardpark and cars and coffee have lost the gender bias thing which is really cool.

Appreciate these guides BTW and also the effort audiogal has put into the forum. At this rate I’m probably going to end up with a semi decent tune 😀

I have a question for some of the more knowledgeable reading here, specifically related to EQ and boosting. If I look at my right mid, following the guide I end up with the following:

Image

Looking at this, you can see I have 7 bands at or around +6dB of boost, at the same time I have 6 with 6dB or more cut. If I then look at the EQ in the Helix software, I see that around 1.25KHz I am showing a peak of +2.5dB over the 0dB line.

Finally, my channel gain is at -2.5dB, so in theory, does that mean that essentially I have nothing above the 0dB line and don't need to worry about those bands being 6dB of boost.

Assuming that trace is accurate, yes you're correct.

Yes, that is fine and nothing to worry about. For higher frequencies even going slightly above 0dB is not a problem as from total energy distribution perspective, there is very little energy in the upper frequency range.

He also has several YouTube videos under Raw Cat. He is very informative and passionate.

Hey Raw Cat, I follow your youtube channel, it has been a great deal of help to get me where I am with a decent tune. Thank you. I will check this out later after I get out of work.

This is a great guide. Having fitted a new system into my GT4 I couldn't work out whether I should run the measurements with the DSP Xover set to the values used in the Jazz Tuning Companion. I see not to other than tweeter protection. Much appreciated!

newbie here. I followed the directions for creating pink noise but it seems kind of “patchy” when compared to other pink noises ive heard. Is this normal or am i missing something? Almost like there is distortion in the recording

Yes, the periodic PN has a very specific sound, but I assure you, all is good and it supposed to sound like that.

Hi there. Excellent Excellent guide write up, Pixerix. I have been very intimidated by tuning and have payed experts in the past to tune my Helix. Now i feel confident enough to try it on my own, thanks to you and this guide. Much appreciated!

But yeah, I made a Pink noise wav file through REW and transferred it to my Android phone and played it through my system, plugged straight into my Helix Optical input. The playback is not a constant hiss like downloaded Pink noise. It's as, Smith 2024 described. Has slight break ups in its playback. Like split seconds of silence every second of playback. Will this work for measuring purposes using MMM?

Thank you for putting the efforts to create this guide.
I will try this out and post the questions if I cannot find the answers in the guide. I am hoping to get the answers
here we go
Q1
while generating the pink noise from REW, the guide displays -5.00 dbfs while the default is -20dBFS. We need to change that to -5.00 dBFS, right?
