Today when I powered it up in the garage (its not in a vehicle) to test it the cd player could not read, it tried and then displayed "ERROR".
is there something out of alignment, dirty lens, bad laser???
hoping it's something I can fix myself.
thanks

I get the same on my 9887 frome one time to another. When this happends, i turn it off, and on again, and the error is gone. (My GF says its the Bart Simpson-virus) :)

It really depends on what's wrong with it if a hard or soft reset will work. Op I think this might be over your head as far as repair.
