Closed Cell Foam - Super Cheap

So I've been researching materials for my upcoming deadening project, and came across this:

Uline packing foam

It's CCF, made from polyethylene. From reading here, most people like to work with PVC Rubber foam (gym foam), which is easy to bond to the car and to MLV using vinyl cement.

The thing is, price per square foot is as follows:

gym foam (2lbs/cu.ft) = $.63/sq.ft
volara (2lbs/cu.ft) = $.40/sq.ft
volara (4lbs/cu.ft) = $.78/sq.ft
Uline (1.2lbs/cu.ft) = $.13/sq.ft

I know about compression set, and I would not want to use the Uline stuff under trim panels where they'd have constant pressure. However, much more of the interior surface area in the car (I'd guess 90%) will just be decoupling the MLV from the sheet metal, and won't be under much pressure. I could also mix and match strips of expensive foam in places that might get compression set, and have cheap stuff in the middle.

Thoughts and suggestions?

Thanks!

unless you are hardcore installer (assuming this stuff works) what are ya gonna do with 500 feet of it? for $147 I can think of other places to spend to deaden. even if the costs per sq ft is low, the initial cost is not.

Ah, good point about the fire rating! I seriously doubt it's any good there. As far as the initial cost goes, I know people who need to ship art supplies and they would be happy to take the excess off my hands.

How many people have ordered foam from www.thefoamfactory.com? Their BBB feedback is pretty bad, and I'm hesitant to place an order with them.

I have New England Foam very close to me (like less than 10 minutes), but they only deal in orders of $150 or more. Do you think I could resell any extra I had here? I'd probably just sell at cost.

Thanks for the feedback!
