Complete system for $450
I had this idea to get a decent system together for $450 using some diy stuff. well It was originally for $400, but that combo was deemed obsolete.
it consists of an RE12" woofer = $85
vifa D27 $20 tweeter and silver flute 5 1/2" mid $15, $25 for crossovers. = $75
box and wiring = $50
profile 4-channel amp = $100
Pioneer or whatever Cd player = $100
total = $400 bucks. I think you can use the crossover and speaker info at Zaphaudio.com to build it. it should give fairly flat response in a house. not in a car. but likely ok.
the mids have a 5mm xmax, which outh to tie with most retail 6.5" mids. the tweeter has low distortion. the sub has decent out put. a crossover isnt so hard to develop. and the deck wont need to do any crossover work.
