Thanks in advance for any advice :)

It can't be too bad if it is way better than your old one. I was looking at Dell 1525 back when cashback was at 30%. I waited too long. haha
I hear ya! I have probably waited to long for this one as well :( I have a serious issue: If it is not car audio or performance parts for my car, I just can't pull the trigger on spending money!!! :D:D It's just crazy! I had that thing in my cart and all the way to confirm payment 3 times in the past 2 hours and I just couldn't do it Ha Ha My cashola I have stashed is targeted for Trick Flow heads! I will keep looking I guess. I just don't want Vista so my options are limited.

Thanks for the input :)

My laptop now bought new about 8 months ago

ASUS G1Sn laptop with a Intel Centrino Core2Duo at 1.83 GHz
\ x2 T5550, 4 gigs DDR RAM, and GeForce 9500m GS graphics with 512MB
\ dedicated VRAM. Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit OS.

price paid at Best Buy $1000

draw your own conclusions ;)
This isn't the "Ask if you found a hot deal for yourself" forum.
But no, it's not a hot deal.

Why don't you want Vista?
vista takes to much memory and slow down your system... and btw it doesnt look like a hot deal

Thanks wise-ass :D This also wasn't the "Did I post in the correct forum" thread either ;) As for it being for myself the site is outlet.dell.com so we can all enjoy ;)

What bboyvek said :) This is what I have been hearing about vista. That and it will only be around long enough for windows 7 to come out.

Thanks for the help guys

Also, for the mods: If this is a grave error on my part in posting this in this forum, please move to the appropriate section. I just figured it was off topic and about the possibillity of a good deal. Made sense at the time :)
Looks fair for the price but I must say I recently built multiple machines with close too specs for double the money.

The point is inflated specs are not specs!
Thanks again all for the comments.

stickler, thanks for the links :) I am going to check em out this evening when I finally make it home for the weekend.

is this from Dell direct?

seems average but I cant remember right now what I paid in Dec 2007 for my wifes but I can tell you it was few hundred $$ cheaper getting it straight from Dell....
I've got basically the same laptop, it's pretty decent and fast enough to handle vista well.

I think my boss paid $699 Canadian.
I am running a near-exact setup as I type to you now. I have 4 gig (and thus it shipped w/ 64 bit Vista), and it works pretty well. I paid about $600 out the door w/ a bag for free, and it looks like you're almost exactly there too. The reason it works so well is that I'm using Win7 btw.

BTW,
no need to pay for antivirus - use Avast free home edition
no need to pay for Microsoft Word, use openoffice.org
download speedfan so you can see how hot it gets sometimes

you might want to check newegg, or tiger direct. Sometimes they have great deals. Just look around and remember that you can't upgrade video on a laptop, so plan ahead. Sometimes my laptop gets sluggish when I do googlesketch 3d work, but its workable and that's not why I bought it (I bought it to run my 3sixty.2 processor software!)
