Hello,

My Helix conductor is going bad on the volume control. I am about to replace it today.

Does it just plug and play or do I have to download the software for conductor? My dsp is Brax.

Thank you,

Before you unplug the old one, go the DCM tab and save the Conductor file locally to your pc. Then make the physical swap, return to the same tab, load up the previous config, save it locally and I usually resave the normal preset again and that will commit the changes to the new Conductor.

When i hear bad volume control I think deoxit. Is there anything mechanical in a conductor to clean.

It’s physical wear in the rotary encoder, it’s not dirt as you’d get in a pot or similar unfortunately, it’s partly why I remoted my encoder from the main board… I can replace the encoder whenever I want to… the current version is a beast, but won’t fit in the same place as the helix conductor factory item

How did you know it was going bad? Symptoms?
The old one, when I turned the volume up or down the lights and the volume just won’t move up or down. This one doesn’t have any clicking feel when I turned.

New one, the shop tried everything but doesn’t work (this one doesn’t have the clicking feel neither)so he said it must be Conductor and he was right. Plugged other new one in and it worked. This one got clicking feel.
